Raised in a small city in North Carolina, Lee Nisbet developed an early interest in art fueled by an active imagination. In high school, she received a National Gold Key Award, an experience that inspired her to pursue formal training in the arts. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Art at East Carolina University. Following graduation, she relocated to the Triangle, which she now proudly calls home. In addition to maintaining her own artistic practice, Lee actively supports and advances the regional arts community through her work with institutions such as Artspace, the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, and the North Carolina Museum of Art.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, photography became an increasingly central focus of her practice, offering both creative refuge and reflection during a period of global uncertainty. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, and she is represented by Peel Gallery, Carrboro, NC.
