In the #merging #nightdrives series, I explore the evening landscape from a moving vehicle. I aim to capture the ephemeral lights of a world I am only passing through. Shooting through car windows allows for the exploration of the world while simultaneously experiencing physical isolation from the confines of a machine.

As with the lights experienced during night drives, I am also drawn to the consistent flow and fading glow of social media. My process is strictly limited to camera apps and social media filters as tools of distortion, much in the same way that social media has the ability to distort and create a manufactured window on reality. The resulting physical photograph, printed roughly to the size of an automobile windshield, subverts the intention of the small, screen image only being viewed on a handheld device.
